The Learning Center offers workshops on speed reading, study skills and time management. <p> </p></career-outlook><courses-label/><course-title-1>Operations and Logistics in Recreation, Event, and Sport Organizations (3 hrs)</course-title-1><course-description-1>Fundamentals of program planning using techniques of identifying and analyzing program activity areas; content includes program development and application with a variety of population groups and representatives of the recreation, event and sport services markets.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Management of Recreation, Event, and Sport Organizations (3 hrs)Management topics in recreation, event and sport industries are covered such as</course-title-2><course-description-2>strategic planning, organizational design, budgets, management theory, leadership, problem solving and communication.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Marketing in Sport and Recreation Industries (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>This course will introduce students to the theories, concepts, and development of advanced principles of marketing in the sport industry with emphasis on sport companies, intercollegiate athletics, professional sport, and multisport club operations.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Assessment and Data Analytics in Recreation, Event, and Sport Organizations (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Examination and application of models and methodologies for evaluating programs in recreation, event and sport services delivery systems. Includes research methods and design, statistical analyses, and technological skills required to propose, implement and analyze recreation, special events and sport programs and services.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Planning, Designing, and Maintaining Recreation, Event, and Sport Facilities and Areas (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Includes basic elements, procedures and processes involved in planning, designing, developing and maintaining recreation, park, leisure and sport facilities and areas. Students assess and evaluate existing facilities and areas in terms of functionality, access standards and maintenance operations.</course-description-5><course-title-6>Leadership in Recreation, Event, and Sport Organizations (3 hrs)</course-title-6><course-description-6>Study of the theories and practices related to leadership in the recreation, event and sport professions. Emphasis is placed on self-awareness; leadership style, techniques and effectiveness; group dynamics; problem solving; decision making; volunteer and staff leadership.
