Celebrating employee excellence

Sept. 12, 2014

Dear UNT faculty and staff members,

You are the linchpin to everything we do as a university and you are the reason UNT stands out as a caring community.

We celebrate your commitment every year with Salute to Faculty Excellence in the fall and with Staff Appreciation events in the spring. These events shine a spotlight on the great work you do and allow us as a community to say thank you for your contributions. Join us for these celebrations.

There will be events throughout the week, culminating with a black-tie dinner and award ceremony Sept. 26 at Apogee Stadium. At the event, we will honor the outstanding faculty who earn the top awards: the UNT Foundation Eminent Faculty Award, the UNT Foundation Leadership Award and the UNT Foundation Community Engagement Award. Read more about the 2014 honorees.

  • The Staff Appreciation event is still being planned. It will recognize the excellence, service and commitment of our staff members.

As part of the brainstorming process at the 2014 Planning Implementation Workshop, I heard repeatedly from participants that we must create better ways to value your hard work, dedication and excellence. I've taken to heart what planning workshop participants said. It will be an important priority for us to find new and better ways to recognize you, our employees, for your great work and dedication. You can learn more about our priorities and action plan at the State of the University at 3 p.m. Sept. 17, 2014 in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

Thank you for being so committed to our students and to the university. I look forward to celebrating your excellence at these events and throughout the year.

UNT proud,

Neal Smatresk
