Celebrating faculty and staff excellence — An Official Notice from the President

Sept. 2, 2016

Dear UNT faculty and staff members,

Through your hard work, belief in our mission and dedication to our students as faculty and staff members, you make UNT a great university and you help our students achieve their dreams.

We like to honor your contributions and impact during Salute to Faculty Excellence week in the fall and Staff Appreciation month in the spring. These events celebrate the great work you do and allow us as a community to say thank you for your contributions. I hope you’ll join us for these celebrations.

There will be events throughout the week, culminating with the Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at Apogee Stadium. Make your reservation by Sept. 7. At the event, we will recognize many of our outstanding faculty members, including the winners of our top awards: the UNT Foundation Eminent Faculty Award, the UNT Foundation Leadership Award, the UNT Foundation Community Engagement Award and the UNT Foundation Outstanding Lecturer Award. Read more about the 2016 honorees.

  • Staff Appreciation month will be March 2017, with Service Awards scheduled for March 9 and the Staff Appreciation Luncheon scheduled for March 30. The monthlong celebration will recognize the excellence, service and commitment of our staff members. Watch for more information and award deadlines.

We’re also holding the first President’s Staff Sack Lunch of the 2016-17 academic year from noon to 1 p.m., Oct. 11 at the University Union Ballroom. Mark your calendars now.

As faculty and staff, you’re changing lives. You can measure it every year in the smiling faces of our graduates and their proud family and friends. These recognition events are some of the ways we can say thanks and honor your excellence. I look forward to celebrating with you.

UNT Proud,

Neal Smatresk
