Complete annual computer security awareness training by Nov. 13

Oct. 3, 2019

Dear community members,

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month and one of the most important aspects to ensuring a safe working environment for all of us is to keep employees and contractors well informed and trained.

The 2019 online security awareness training has been updated and can now be accessed at All employees and contractors must complete this year’s security awareness training by Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Texas state law requires all employees and contractors to complete annual information security training. Employees hired after Jan. 1, 2019, who completed training during onboarding have already completed this requirement. All employees and contractors who do not complete the training by Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11:59 p.m., are at risk of losing access to computer resources.

Please log in to Find the Information Security Training section on the right-hand side and select the “Online Training” link.

The required training includes 15 short video courses, which are two to five minutes each, so that employees can easily complete the training during their work hours. Each video is followed by one assessment question.

Once all mandatory video courses are complete, employees can download and print a completion certificate. Employees may earn one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for completing the training.

As a bonus in October for Cyber Security Awareness Month, employees who complete their training will have their names placed in a drawing to win a prize. Multiple drawings will be conducted throughout the month. The earlier individuals complete their training, the earlier they are placed into the drawing pool.
