Employees reminded of conduct standards

Dear faculty and staff, 

As I’ve said many times, UNT has one of the most caring communities and much of that is thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff. Your passion for helping our students achieve their dreams is evident in so many ways. For so many of you, this is more than a job. It’s a labor of love.

Part of your work includes knowing the professional, ethical and legal responsibilities of your job and our higher education profession. Every UNT faculty and staff member — regardless of job title, assignment, length of service or sphere of influence — must adhere to and comply with applicable laws and policies set by UNT, the UNT System Board of Regents and the State of Texas.

We want to make sure you’re aware of the standards of conduct guidelines. These guidelines do not replace any written policies or laws. Rather, they serve as a point of reference for workplace conduct and expectations. They also will make you aware of rules regarding such issues as conflict of interest, research and gifts. They will help you find an applicable policy or appropriate point of contact for issues that may arise.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone of their obligation to report suspected wrongdoing of any kind to the appropriate authorities. Retaliation against those making good faith reports of suspected wrongdoing is prohibited.

Please take the time to review the guidelines and keep them on hand for future reference. If you have specific questions, you can speak with your supervisor or with the points of contacts in the offices and agencies listed in the guide.

Thank you for your hard work and commitment. Our students are lucky to have such a dedicated team of professionals working on their behalf.
