Groups that bring minors to campus should now work with UNT’s new Youth Protection Program

Nov. 12, 2019

UNT is committed to protecting the safety and well-being of minors visiting our campus. The new Youth Protection Program has been formed to provide direct assistance to faculty, staff, groups and departments on campus that organize or sponsor events for minors on campus, or participate in UNT-sponsored programs off campus. Every youth program or activity at UNT has an obligation to ensure the safety of minors on campus.

Previously, background checks for program volunteers and staff, and other program resources were housed in Risk Management Services.

Effective immediately, if you or your organization previously worked with the RMS Insurance team to plan activities or sponsor a program on campus for non-student minors under the age of 18, you must work through the new Youth Protection Program. You must connect with the Youth Protection Program director as soon as you begin planning to ensure that any compliance items that may apply to your specific activities are completed prior to the start of your event.

Youth Protection Program Director Nadia Guevara can be reached at 940-565-2813 or More information can also be found on the Youth Protection Program website. The website includes basic information that will continue to be updated in the coming months.

Please share this information with others in your area to spread the word on campus. Your support is appreciated and will ensure these young visitors have a pleasant and worthwhile educational experience while at UNT.
