It's time to congratulate our newest UNT graduates!
UNT will host the 2018 Grad Block Party to honor this year’s graduates and show them that their UNT family is proud of them and their accomplishments.
All current UNT faculty, staff and students are invited to celebrate with the graduates. The Block Party is from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, on Highland Street, on the University Union South Lawn and the Library Mall.
The evening will be filled with festivities, including commemorative giveaways, free festival-type food, food trucks, live music, games, photo ops, Scrappy, a special ice cream flavor in honor of graduation, activities for kids and UNT merchandise and memorabilia available for purchase. Everything wraps up with a toast to graduates, followed by fireworks and the UNT Alma Mater at dark.
Parking will be available in the lots along Welch Street, in the Highland Street parking garage and in the Fouts Field lot.
At 4 p.m. on Friday, Highland Street will be closed between Avenue A and Avenue C for the Grad Block Party. UNT’s commencement shuttles will not operate during or after the Block Party, except for one shuttle which will continue to provide service following the 4 p.m. ceremony -- the last ceremony of the day -- for guests and graduates leaving that event.
Commencement weekend always brings many new people to campus, so please be aware of impacts to parking and traffic and prepare for congestion. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time to, from and on campus.
