As you begin the fall semester, the Division of Institutional Equity and Diversity would like to remind you about UNT’s commitment to maintaining an open and welcoming atmosphere that supports the success of students, staff and faculty from all groups.
In order to advance and honor the religious diversity in our community, UNT makes reasonable accommodations for students, staff and faculty whose religious observances or religious holy days coincide with their work schedules and academic obligations.
Every reasonable effort should be made to help students avoid negative academic consequences when their religious obligations coincide with academic requirements. Students should be provided with a reasonable alternate opportunity to meet such academic requirements, and students are obligated to provide faculty with reasonable notice of the dates of the religious holidays on which they will be absent.
Employees who require time off for religious obligations should notify their supervisors as soon as possible to facilitate planning and arrangements for make-up work.
Please contact the Office of Equal Opportunity at 940-565-2759 or at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or need guidance on issues related to religious observance at UNT. A list of major religious holidays during the 2018-19 year is available for reference online.
