Spring update from the University Policy Office

The University Policy Office, in collaboration with policy owners, aids in the development, review, approval and maintenance of university-wide policies. These policies impact students, faculty and staff. Please visit the policy updates page for the full list of new and updated policies.                                            

Since the fall update, the policy office has modified, added or deleted 26 policies. Synopses of some of the policies that have the largest impact on students, faculty and staff are at the bottom of this email.

Highlights from the spring policy updates:

  • Revised: 16.005 Sexual Harassment The policy was revised to incorporate a new definition of “sexual harassment” as well as other requirements of Texas SB 969.
  • Revised: 16.001 Disability Accommodation for Students and Academic Units – The policy makes the Office of Disability Accommodation the clearinghouse for all decisions regarding student accommodations and clarifies faculty responsibility related to disability accommodations.
  • Revised: 15.006 Campus Closures – The policy was revised to reflect a change in procedures and notifications in campus closure decision processes.
