Staff Performance Evaluation Process is April 1 to May 31

Dear UNT Community,

The annual Staff Performance Evaluation Review window is approaching. Supervisors are required to conduct and submit annual performance reviews for their retirement-eligible staff members. The window during which to complete and submit these evaluations is April 1 through May 31.

Supervisors should use the UPO-31 Performance Form - Planning Guide to administer this process. 

These mandatory reviews are important and give managers an opportunity to make their teams better. Employees should receive a clear idea of their strengths, a plan for development and growth, and clearly defined goals and expectations.

The Human Resources staff has prepared a planning guide to help supervisors conduct successful reviews:

·         The quick reference guide  answers common questions about the annual review process and the evaluation form.

·         Read a UPO-31 sample evaluation form.

System Human Resources will hold four “Navigating the Annual Evaluation Process” training sessions to help managers learn how to complete the forms and apply best practices.

“Facilitating Effective Performance Evaluations” (Class Code FE16-0033) will also be offered as part of the Supervisory Building Blocks program and will focus on preparing and delivering effective performance feedback during the formal evaluation process (this session does not review the UPO-31 form).
