UNT to participate in emergency exercise May 5 at Apogee Stadium -- A Message from the President

April 27, 2017

Dear faculty and staff,

The University of North Texas is committed to maintaining a safe and secure campus for all of our students, faculty and staff.

In keeping with this commitment, the university conducts periodic emergency drills, exercises and training sessions to better prepare for events that could impact the university. Lessons learned from incidents at universities across the country highlight the importance of training and underline the need to have a cohesive, coordinated response.

As part of our commitment to your safety, the UNT Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management have partnered with the City of Denton and other agencies to conduct a live emergency exercise Friday, May 5, at Apogee Stadium. During the exercise, police, fire and ambulance units from a wide range of jurisdictions will be in and around Apogee Stadium. The exercise, which will begin at 10 a.m., is expected to conclude about 1 p.m.

Unless students, faculty and staff have business at Apogee Stadium, Victory Hall or surrounding buildings during these times, please avoid the area.

UNT proud,
Neal Smatresk
President
