Dear UNT family,

At UNT, we work daily to provide our students with the knowledge, drive and critical thinking skills that will enable them to achieve their dreams and thrive in our rapidly changing world. We are thrilled to welcome home Wende Zomnir, a 1989 journalism graduate who did just that by eschewing the beauty industry's status quo and embracing “bold” both personally and professionally. When traditional beauty companies only sold palettes in pink, beige and red, Wende co-founded Urban Decay Cosmetics, one of the top-selling makeup brands, filling a large void in the market by creating quality cosmetics in bright colors.

Wende will return to campus this month for the UNT President's Lecture Series to discuss "How Urban Decay Disrupted and Transformed an Industry," during a free public lecture and Q&A at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in the University Union Emerald Ballroom, Room 314. As founding partner of Urban Decay Cosmetics, Wende continues to lead the brand and its mission to deliver beauty with an edge, simultaneously providing coveted products and an unexpected point of view.

The lecture series is open to all members of the UNT family - students, faculty, staff and alumni - as well as our neighbors throughout the North Texas region. Seating is limited, so confirm your seat by claiming your free ticket online.

Join us to hear Wende's entrepreneurial secrets and be inspired by her persistence to push beyond the norms. As a creative, caring and tenacious alumna, Wende is the embodiment of UNT.

UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
President
