If you have a UNT parking citation you need to pay, now there is an easy way to handle those fines while giving back to the UNT community. UNT's Transportation Services Office is hosting a food drive benefitting the UNT Food Pantry in exchange for waiving your UNT parking ticket(s) from your account. The Donations for Citations drive is open to anyone who was issued a UNT parking ticket after Nov. 1, 2016, and the citation has not yet been paid. Each non-perishable food item donated is worth a $2.50 reduction in your citation(s), up to a $70 value. If you have a parking citation that has already reached the collections stage, you may bring in 10 non-perishable food items and the $25 UNT parking late fee will be dismissed.
The UNT Food Pantry provides an accessible on-campus food source that’s available to all current UNT students in need. Requested items include:
- Boxed cereal
- Canned beans
- Canned tuna
- Canned vegetables
- Fruit snacks
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Instant rice
- Microwave popcorn
- Pasta sides
- Pudding cups
Food items will not be accepted if they are damaged, opened, missing a label or expired.
To participate, bring your donations Dec. 1 - 15 to the UNT Transportation Services office, located on the first floor of the Highland Street Garage on Avenue A across from the Business Leadership Building. If you are dropping off a donation, free parking will be available in the Highland Street Garage or you may park in front of the Transportation Services office on the east side of Avenue A. Have your photo I.D. and license plate number ready to help Transportation Services staff quickly access your account, and be sure to ask for your free parking validation.
