The President’s EDGE – a program originally created to help UNT employees earn their GED – is adding a five-week course for English speakers to learn basic conversational Spanish. The free course will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. beginning Sept. 27 (Wednesday) through Oct. 25 (Wednesday). Space is limited and registration is required. Register by contacting the President’s EDGE office at 940-565-4320. Learn more about the program.
Several departments across campus support the program by providing instruction or assistance for UNT employees and their families in the following areas:
• Document translation
• English as second language (ESL)
• GED prep and signup including tutoring services for most subject areas (math, science, ESL, social studies)
• Onsite access to computers for payroll for those who may not work in an office building
• Computer skills
• Citizenship paperwork
• Human Resource needs such as Onboarding
The President's EDGE program was established in the fall of 2011. Since then, the program has expanded to include English language acquisition and computer skills. Any staff member who would like to work toward one or all of these goals, regardless of their academic or language abilities, should contact The President's EDGE at 940-565-4320.
