Summer exhibitions at UNT on the Square range from community art to Sept. 11 tribute

The photographs of Nicola McClean taken during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City will be displayed in Ground Zero 360, running May 21 (Monday)-July 14 (Saturday). The exhibition features pictures and artifacts of first responders, as well as radio calls from that day and fragmented steel and granite from the World Trade Center. McClean is an Irish photographer who has shot portraits and landscapes around the world.

Members of the Visual Arts Society of Texas will present everything from painting to fiber art at the 29th Annual Juried Members Exhibition July 23 (Monday)-Aug. 15 (Wednesday). VAST, which was established in 1975 and boasts 142 members, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting artists and art lovers. The juror for the show is photographer Lynné Bowman Cravens, who received her master’s of fine arts degree from University of North Texas in 2015. The reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 24 (Tuesday).

The summer will bring other upcoming events, including the Thursday Night Music Series and an exhibition about Denton architect O’Neil Ford.
