Here you will grow mentally &amp; physically. You will learn the value of integrity, teamwork and perseverance. You'll also develop strong leadership skills that will benefit you as an Air Force and Space Force officer.</p>
<p>AFROTC cadets are required to take 18-20 credit hours of Aerospace Studies courses through AFROTC to prepare them for a commission in the USAF. These academic courses are taught by the officer Cadre on staff. Your future awaits. Aim high!</p></why-earn-this><this-program-will-teach-you-label/><this-program-will-teach-you/><program-highlights-label/><program-highlights-1>The program itself is designed as a four year program, but there are opportunities for those wishing to join the program with fewer than four years of college remaining.</program-highlights-1><program-highlights-2>All cadets participate in Physical Training (PT), a combination of strength and cardio training designed to expose cadets to the lifestyle they must adopt to be successful Air Force officers.</program-highlights-2><program-highlights-3>In the Leadership Laboratory, you'll develop your demonstration of command, effective communication, and knowledge of military customs and courtesies.</program-highlights-3><program-highlights-4>All AFROTC cadets attend Field Training in the summer between their second and third year, meant to evaluate military discipline and Air Force officer leadership potential.</program-highlights-4><program-highlights-5>The program is rigorous and selective, but prides itself on maintaining a standard of excellence that will guide you to commissioning and into your Air Force career.</program-highlights-5><program-highlights-6>As a part of the program, you will prepare yourself to excel as an Air Force Officer while completing your degree as a college student.</program-highlights-6><career-outlook-label/><career-outlook/><courses-label/><course-title-1>USAF Heritage and Values (1 hr)</course-title-1><course-description-1>Introduction to the Air Force way of life providing a historical perspective on war and US military, AF operations, principles of war, and airpower.</course-description-1><course-title-2>The Evolution of the U.S.A.F. Air and Space Power (1 hr)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Provides a fundamental understanding of both leadership and team building and the many layers and aspects of leadership. Includes team building activities and conflict management and an assessment of communication skills.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Cooperative Education in Aerospace Studies (1-3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Supervised work in a job or project directly related to the student’s major, professional field of study or career objective.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Leading People and Effective Communication (4 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>In depth study of leadership and ethics including writing and briefing skills.</course-description-4><course-title-5>National Security Affairs/Preparation for Active Duty (4 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Examines the basic elements of national security policy and process; teaches basic air force domain operations as well as selected roles of the military in society and current domestic and international issues affecting the military profession. Covers the responsibility, authority, and functions of an Air Force commander and selected provisions of the military justice system.
