We embrace artistic leadership and an entrepreneurial mindset, and our faculty will guide students through their journey in developing these skills.<br/><br/>We believe that the ability to collaborate is a key skill for 21st century musicians. The UNT world-class College of Music faculty and ensembles offer Commercial Music majors collaboration with a wide-range of talented musicians.<br/><br/>Students have ample room to explore their interests while focusing on command of cornerstone contemporary industry practices and holistic understandings of its cultural underpinnings.<br/><br/>Four different tracks are offered:<br/>

</ul></career-outlook><courses-label/><course-title-1>Sound Engineering (3 hrs)</course-title-1><course-description-1><span class="">Introductory exploration and practice in sound engineering. Concepts in sound physics and acoustics are demonstrated and explored within a variety of audio production techniques and studio workflows, facilitating collaborative creative engagement in sound and music media.</span></course-description-1><course-title-2>Fundamentals of Digital Audio Workstations (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2><span class="">Project-based learning of basic to intermediate-level techniques in audio, MIDI, and audio-visual production using industry-standard software applications.</span></course-description-2><course-title-3>Commercial Music Capstone (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3><span class="">Senior Commercial Music Capstone project.</span></course-description-3><course-title-4>Music Business and Entrepreneurship (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4><span class="">Provides students with a hands-on experience in planning and launching a musical venture. Upon completion, students will have compiled a professional portfolio, created or improved their own web sites, and will have implemented a plan of action for a music business plan based on their specific interests and needs. Students may also be referred to other UNT faculty and alumni for more information and potential networking opportunities to support their ventures.
