Specializations offered for EC-6 Elementary Education are ESL Supplemental and bilingual generalist.</p>

Human relations strategies are discussed in great detail and methods for increasing parental involvement are also addressed.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Fundamentals of Bilingual and English as a Second Language Education in EC–12 Settings (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Examination of historical and legal aspects of bilingual and English as a second language education in EC–12 settings, including program models for the education of bilingual and English language learners; also, an overview of theories of second language learning and their implications for practice in schools.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Assessing Language and Content Learning in EC–12 Bilingual and English as a Second Language Education (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Examination of issues related to assessment of language proficiency and cognitive abilities of EC–12 English language learners, including the importance of appropriate diagnostic testing to the teaching and learning process; a review of potential cultural bias in EC–12 assessment procedures for assessing eligibility of EC–12 students for special language programs.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Pedagogy of English as a Second Language for EC–12 Classrooms (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Examination of appropriate procedures and materials for academic content instruction and language development for English Language Learners (ELLs).</course-description-5><course-title-6/><course-description-6/><video-url>M7DMfjWkFpA</video-url><video-heading><div class="heading">Learn More About UNT</div></video-heading><video-description><span>Watch this video to learn more about what makes UNT great!</span></video-description><explore-more-source><p><a href="https://coe.unt.edu/">College of Education</a></p>
