The Department of Teacher Education and Administration offers the Master of Education with a major in Teaching with EC–6 Core Subjects or Secondary Education Certification tracks. Specializations offered for EC-6 Elementary Education are ESL Supplemental and bilingual generalist.

Human relations strategies are discussed in great detail and methods for increasing parental involvement are also addressed.Fundamentals of Bilingual and English as a Second Language Education in EC–12 Settings (3 hrs)Examination of historical and legal aspects of bilingual and English as a second language education in EC–12 settings, including program models for the education of bilingual and English language learners; also, an overview of theories of second language learning and their implications for practice in schools.Assessing Language and Content Learning in EC–12 Bilingual and English as a Second Language Education (3 hrs)Examination of issues related to assessment of language proficiency and cognitive abilities of EC–12 English language learners, including the importance of appropriate diagnostic testing to the teaching and learning process; a review of potential cultural bias in EC–12 assessment procedures for assessing eligibility of EC–12 students for special language programs.Pedagogy of English as a Second Language for EC–12 Classrooms (3 hrs)Examination of appropriate procedures and materials for academic content instruction and language development for English Language Learners (ELLs).M7DMfjWkFpA
