Includes field study in industry centers for fashion, home furnishings, hospitality, or other selected U.S. or international destinations. Pre-trip and post-trip classes required.</span></course-description-1><course-title-2>Foundations of International Travel and Tourism (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2><span class="">Travel and <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> examined from <span class="acalog-highlight-search-1">global</span>, industry and developmental perspectives. Topics include historical, contemporary and future effects of travel and <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> as related to social, economic, cultural and environmental issues.</span></course-description-2><course-title-3>Introduction to International Sustainable Tourism (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3><span class=""><span class="acalog-highlight-search-1">Global</span> travel and <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> examined through the lens of sustainability and the triple bottom line: the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental effects of <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> on a destination. Introduction to the different components of the travel and <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> industry with a particular focus on examples of high and low sustainability practices in each industry, using case studies from around the world as illustrations.</span></course-description-3><course-title-4>Hotel Operations (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4><span class="">Detailed study of different departments within hotel properties. Emphasis on front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, security, sales and marketing and accounting.</span></course-description-4><course-title-5>Technology and Innovation in Hospitality, Event and Tourism (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5><span class="">Designed to familiarize students with the strategic use of technology and new trends of innovation in the hospitality, event and <span class="acalog-highlight-search-2">tourism</span> fields.
