Dear UNT family,
The President's Lecture Series was created to connect our students and the greater UNT community with inspiring, accomplished experts and leaders from a variety of fields. We are excited this spring to welcome Bryant Terry, a James Beard Award-winning chef, food justice activist and critically acclaimed author, as our next President's Lecture Series speaker at 7 p.m. March 31 in the University Union Emerald Ballroom, Room 314. A cooking demonstration and Q&A session will accompany Chef Terry's talk, “Food Justice at the Intersection of Food, Politics, Poverty, Public Health and the Environment.”
Chef Terry's cookbook, Vegan Soul Kitchen (VSK): Fresh, Healthy, and Creative African-American Cuisine, was named one of the best vegetarian/vegan cookbooks of the last 25 years by Cooking Light Magazine, and in 2015, he was presented with the James Beard Leadership Award for his work in creating a more accessible, equitable and ethical food system in America.
The lecture series is open to all members of the UNT family — students, faculty, staff and alumni — as well as our neighbors throughout the North Texas region. Claim your free ticket online and join us March 31 to be inspired by Chef Terry!
P.S. Students from the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism's Hospitality Management Program will cook, serve and learn side-by-side from Chef Terry on April 1 during the Heart & Soul Full Celebrity Chef Series dinner. Event sponsorships are on sale now and all proceeds will benefit UNT's Hospitality Program.
