Congratulations on being accepted to UNT! What’s next?
If you have questions about what you should do between receiving your acceptance letter and attending your first day of classes, don't worry, we’ve got you covered.
1. Submit Final Transcripts
Send us your final transcript — as well as any IB, AP, college or dual credit documentation.
2. Upload your TSI Score (or exemption)
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state mandate required for all incoming students to be assessed in the areas of math, reading and writing. Unless you’re exempt, you’ll need to take it and report your score before orientation.
Submit your test score or your exemption to TSI@unt.edu.
3. Complete FAFSA
Don’t forget about the FAFSA. Add UNT as a preferred school when completing! For more information about financial aid and scholarship options, as well as deadline dates, visit our UNT Office of Financial Aid website.
Did you remember your SSN? If you didn’t enter this during the application process, be sure to upload that now. This is important for your financial aid packaging!
4. Run an Online Degree Audit
Now that you’re admitted, you can use our online degree audit tool to stay on track for graduation and prepare for advising appointments. If you’re undecided, you can run “what-if” degree audits to explore all your options.
5. Attend Transfer Orientation
Once you are accepted, you will be provided with information about orientation for new transfer students. Orientation is your first step in successfully transitioning to UNT. All new undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation session.
At orientation, you will:
- Meet with your academic advisor, who will help you prepare to register for classes
- Learn about academic and campus resources
- Start building relationships with other students
- Learn about UNT's traditions
You will register for orientation through your myUNT portal. Sessions fill up quickly, so register soon!
6. Apply for Housing
Check out our Housing! Rooms fill up fast so it’s important to review options early! Log into your eHousing portal.
7. Upload Immunization Records
Upload your immunization documents in your myUNT portal. Visit our Meningitis FAQ page for information on the State of Texas policies and next steps.
Students needing immunizations or health screenings may schedule an appointment with the UNT Student Health and Wellness Center by calling 940-565-2333.
8. Apply to the Honors College
The Honors College at UNT provides unique learning and living opportunities for talented, driven students who want more out of their university experience. See the Honors eligibility requirements.
9. Request Assistance or Accommodations
Will you need assistance or accommodations during your time at UNT? Let us know by contacting the Office of Disability Access.
10. Join our Community
Connect with other students, prepare for life at UNT and have fun with welcome events designed just for you.
