UNT Police responded to a hoax bomb threat just before 1 p.m. today. There was no specific information or location mentioned in the threat, which was submitted through a virtual check-in portal.

UNT Police worked diligently with North Texas Fusion Center and UNT’s FBI Campus Liaison to thoroughly investigate the situation, and they also deployed UNT Police K-9 Keegan, who is specifically trained in explosive detection.

During today’s investigation, the threat was determined not to be credible. The UNT Police take all threats seriously, even when a hoax is suspected.

UNT Police is sharing this information with the UNT community to be as transparent as possible and to encourage anyone with information about today’s threat to come forward, especially as the nation is experiencing a number of similar threats and schools across the country have experienced similar hoax reports.   • Carry a cell phone so you can contact help immediately.
