Dear Faculty and Staff,

In the past few months, several IT issues have impacted business operations at UNT. In some cases, users were notified, but in other instances, some were missed who might need to understand how these incidents affect their work. To help enhance communications, we will be launching a new messaging protocol prior to major IT changes and whenever we discover something that has the potential to disrupt your work.

The goal is that these new messaging guidelines will proactively inform faculty and staff so that everyone can be prepared for any challenges we may face as we upgrade our IT capabilities. I urge you to read these messages, which will have the subject line, “IT Announcement.” As needed, the messages will include:

  • What IT is planning to do
  • Anticipated or realized impacts
  • How IT intends to minimize disruptions
  • Where to gain more help if you are impacted

Upgrading our IT systems is a complex job with many challenges as we implement new solutions and modernize our technology operations and capabilities. You can follow along with updates, FAQs, and town hall information on the UNT System Enterprise IT Transformation website.

I appreciate your patience and flexibility as we go through these changes. We want to ensure we’re doing our best to let you know what is happening, so that we can maintain business continuity for our community.

UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
UNT President
