Dear UNT Students,

Welcome to the Spring 2024 semester! I know I speak for our faculty and staff when I say we're so glad to have you back on our beautiful campus. A new year is always full of opportunities and offers us all the chance to set new goals, refresh and improve, and excel. Whether this is your first year in college or you’re a returning or transferring student, I encourage you to take advantage of what this semester has to offer.

The entire UNT community cares deeply about your success, and we are here to support your journey with us. Most importantly, we want you to keep progressing to your graduation and career goals, so keep in touch with your academic advisors and career coaches and make sure you have a solid plan to reach your goals. Another way we’re providing support is through the opening of our new UNT One Stop. The newly renovated space brings together admissions, student financial services, and student money management to give you a simplified, consistent service experience and a high level of on-site support. Stop by the second floor of the ESSC (Eagle Student Services Center, east of the Library Mall) to see the newest addition to the UNT nest and what it has to offer you.

Our semester is just getting started, but we already have a lot to celebrate. Last week marked one year since the grand opening of Frisco Landing, UNT at Frisco’s first permanent building. We’re also celebrating 20 years at Discovery Park, the largest research park in the North Texas region dedicated to sciences, technology, and engineering. I’m truly proud of the transformations happening across our university, and I look forward to seeing what the new year has in store for UNT.

As you progress through the semester, I encourage you to use the Navigate mobile app to schedule appointments with your academic advisor and access important UNT services designed to support your success, such as the UNT Career Center and First-Generation Success Center. Navigate also can help you stay organized and on task with your assignments and coursework. Finally, be sure to get involved in UNT’s vibrant community with events happening on and around campus. Check out calendar.unt.edu for the latest.

I wish you a successful semester and wonderful new year. Go Mean Green!

UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
President
