Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024Dear UNT Faculty and Staff,

Tomorrow begins one of my favorite times of year, Staff Appreciation Month. Every year throughout the month of March, we honor the backbone of our university — our UNT staff, who work tirelessly to provide support to our students and faculty and help create a more caring campus community. We appreciate what you do all year long, but this month, we get to celebrate you with awards, learning sessions, networking opportunities, and other perks. This year’s celebration is once again presented by DATCU.

Our annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon and awards ceremony will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the UNT Coliseum. Verde will be providing a fabulous fajita feast, and there will be door prizes, fun activities and the presentation of UNT’s 2024 Staff Appreciation Awards. And the annual Service Awards Ceremony, which will be hosted from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the University Union Ballroom 314, will recognize 471 employees who reached a milestone anniversary between 5 and 55 years of service during 2023.

There will be learning sessions offered all month long to develop new skills or hobbies, meet new people, network with colleagues and relax and recharge. It is important to prioritize attending the events you are interested in, so I encourage you to rearrange meetings and tasks so you can take advantage of these great opportunities. Check out the complete list of Staff Appreciation Month Learning Sessions.

Throughout the month, faculty and staff can experience our award-winning food at a discounted price. Enjoy all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner at various dining locations on campus.

Finally, don’t miss a seven-day free trial membership at the Pohl Recreation Center any time in March and free group exercise classes March 11-15 for Rec Sports members, including those with a trial membership. All details can be found on the 2024 Staff Appreciation Month page.Again, thank you for all you do, and happy Staff Appreciation Month!
