Dear UNT Community,

As we begin the spring semester, I want to provide a final update on the efforts of the Strategic Budgeting Steering Committee. In our December update, I shared that the committee had developed a draft framework for a new incentive-based budgeting model. I am pleased to share we have successfully provided this model recommendation to President Harrison Keller and other executive sponsor committee members for their review and consideration. It includes a detailed summary of the scope of work conducted by the steering and technical committees.

These recommendations and the new proposed model are available on the Strategic Budgeting Resources webpage, along with an executive summary and answers to frequently asked questions. This information is intended to offer insight into the committee’s efforts and provide answers to many of the questions we gathered from campus community members throughout the process.

Now that the recommendations have been passed along to President Keller and the executive sponsor committee, the work of the steering and technical committees has officially concluded. I want to express my immense gratitude to all the committee members for their contributions. I also appreciate the input and interest from our community during this campuswide effort over the past four months. Together, we have once again accomplished a tremendous feat, of which we all should be proud.

Our recommendations will be carefully considered, and soon many important decisions will be determined so we can prepare for the coming fiscal year. Expect further updates as the university navigates the next steps in our new strategic budgeting journey.

On behalf of our committee members, it has been an honor to serve UNT and we wish you all a wonderful spring semester ahead!
