Dear UNT Students,

At today’s State of the University, I unveiled Look North: UNT 2030, our new five-year strategic plan, and launched Better Look North — a $100 million fundraising campaign to advance student success. This plan reflects months of collaboration and creativity from more than 1,200 students, alumni, faculty, staff, and partners across our North Texas region who helped shape our vision to create a better future for our students, university, and communities.

This plan is primarily designed for you. Since 1890, UNT has opened doors for every qualified student who is ready to learn, lead, and make a difference. We’re building on that promise by expanding opportunities, experiences, and connections that help you launch meaningful careers, strengthen your communities, and shape what comes next for North Texas and beyond.

Our plan focuses on three priorities:
  • Develop the potential of our students and UNT community members
  • Discover new knowledge and insights that bridge traditional academic disciplines
  • Drive innovations, partnerships, and new models of higher education to build a better tomorrow
As the largest university in North Texas — and one of the fastest-rising in the nation, UNT is uniquely positioned to power the Dallas-Fort Worth economy as it becomes America’s third-largest metropolitan area. Through our work together at UNT, we will prepare students like you to become the workforce and leaders of tomorrow — career-ready graduates who bring the technical and problem-solving skills that North Texas industries and communities need to thrive.

Now, it’s time to put our plan into action — to lead boldly and open new doors for every qualified student who looks north to us for opportunity. I invite you to explore Look North: UNT 2030 and see how our university will drive the future of our region. You can also learn more about how our Better Look North campaign will help students succeed.

Together, we will Look North — and lead the way.

Respectfully,

Harrison Keller, Ph.D.
President
