Dear faculty and staff,
You have heard me mention what a milestone year it is for UNT - we awarded a record 9,600-plus degrees during the 2018-19 academic year and our fall enrollment of more than 39,000 students set a university record. Our positive growth in the areas of enrollment, retention and degrees awarded is proof that we are focused on our mission to help students thrive.
To provide our students and their families with the best graduation experience, UNT's Spring Commencement activities will occur across four days, from Thursday, May 7, through Sunday, May 10. By holding ceremonies on four days, we will be able to decrease strain on our venues and infrastructure. We also anticipate the change will provide graduates and their families more time to celebrate.
We will host two Doctoral/Master's Commencement Ceremonies on Thursday, May 7, with undergraduate commencement ceremonies the following three days. To view the detailed Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 commencement schedules, visit commencement.unt.edu.
Our family-friendly Grad Block Party tradition will be hosted the evening of Friday, May 8, 2020. All members of the UNT family are welcome, not just graduates, so mark your calendar and plan to attend.
Thank you for embracing our growth and for understanding how these changes will enhance the commencement experience for our graduates and their guests. College graduation is a momentous event - one that changes family trees - and we want to make sure it is a positive, enjoyable experience for all.
UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
