Dear UNT faculty and staff,

It is my privilege to be part of an incredibly caring community here at UNT, and while I believe this is our greatest core strength, we should always strive to improve our culture. We began this year by conducting a Gallup survey that allowed us to benchmark engagement at UNT. Our hope is to use this survey to build an even more engaging and supportive work environment.

This survey provided feedback that launched discussions across the university about how we can best foster an environment where employees are involved, enthusiastic and committed. Each of you play an important role in creating a great workplace. The way we work together, build relationships and show appreciation for our Mean Green family all play a part in developing our engagement. When we feel good about our jobs and mission, we all benefit. As our students are the greatest beneficiaries of an engaged organization, I know supporting them matters deeply to all of us. Therefore, we need your help and input to make UNT a great place to work.

I know many of your areas have great engagement, but some still may be wondering what they can do. This three question feedback form was designed to capture your ideas and allow you to ask for help with engagement. The quick, easy form allows any faculty of staff member to:

  • Share what your area is doing to positively impact engagement
  • Request assistance from an engagement expert
  • Provide ideas for ways that UNT can enhance engagement.

Helpful engagement information is available on the UNT Employee Engagement website.

In late January, UNT will participate in a second Gallup engagement survey. It will be followed by a job satisfaction survey for faculty from the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE). It's important that we receive high participation and honest feedback on both surveys. We need your help to identify areas in which the university is excelling and areas that need more support.

Thank you in advance for participating and for everything you do to make UNT great.

UNT Proud,

Neal Smatresk

President
