Dear UNT Community,

The City of Denton has planned a construction project to improve North Texas Boulevard between Eagle Drive and Oak Street, which includes installing water and sewer lines in the same area. The work will begin Dec. 13, and is expected to be complete in fall 2022 with various impacts to campus traffic throughout the duration of the work.

The university is working closely with the city to provide regular updates to the campus community regarding impacts to traffic patterns and how water line work might impact service to certain campus buildings. The latest construction information can be accessed here. We also will regularly share updates in UNT Today for faculty and staff, and on both the UNT Facilities and the main UNT social media accounts for students.

The project's first phase of utility work will focus on water line replacement between Eagle Drive and Highland Street, which will close one lane of southbound traffic in the area. Future phases of work will occur between Highland and Chestnut streets, and then Chestnut and Oak streets.

As work progresses, there will be intermittent intersection closures at Highland, Chestnut and Stella streets. Those dates and times have yet to be scheduled and will be dependent upon the progression of the project and weather conditions.

Drivers should check the construction status page before traveling to and from campus while the construction project is under way.
