March is Staff Appreciation Month, when UNT celebrates staff contributions with awards, learning sessions, networking opportunities and perks. It's a month-long tribute to staff members who form the backbone of the university. The celebration is presented by DATCU for the second year.
To kick off Staff Appreciation Month's festivities, join us for the Staff Appreciation Awards Ceremony via Zoom, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, March 2. Staff receiving the following awards will be honored: Steve Miller Outstanding Employee, Rising Star, UNT Spirit, Customer Service, Student Success, Creating UNiTy, Excellence in Leadership, Ruby Raines Administrative Professional, UNT Community, President's Special Recognition, and Bob Rogers Service and Community Engagement. Door prizes also will be awarded and a livestream of the event will be available.
Practicing self-care is important to achieving work-life balance and an overall healthy well-being, especially during times of high stress. Several Wellness Week events and activities, including self-care, mental health and sessions to improve financial health are offered for UNT staff the week of March 15-19, hosted by DATCU and various departments. Participation requires registration in UNT Bridge.
Relationship building also is an essential aspect of a healthy life, so we invite you to join us for Virtual Networking Week, March 22-26, full of activities that will allow you to virtually mingle with your UNT colleagues and get to know them and the campus better. Many fun activities await and are hosted by the Staff Senate. Participation requires registration in UNT Bridge.
We wrap up Staff Appreciation Month with the annual Service Awards Ceremony via Zoom, from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30. During this event, UNT will recognize more than 470 employees who reached a milestone anniversary between 5 and 45 years of service with the university in calendar year 2020. You can share congratulatory messages or other shout-outs during the event on our Kudoboard. A livestream of the event will be available.
Throughout the month, staff members can learn new skills and pursue various hobbies in the Staff Appreciation Month Learning Sessions. Participation requires registration in UNT Bridge.
One of the most effective ways to express appreciation is saying “thank you,” and now you can show any staff member your gratitude or acknowledge an outstanding colleague with our virtual “Thank a Staff Member” Kudoboard. All UNT faculty, staff, and students are invited to post notes to staff members all month long.
Also, throughout the month of March, Dining Services is offering $5 all-you-can-eat meals for staff and faculty. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at Bruceteria, Champs, Kitchen West and Mean Greens Café. Simply present your valid UNT ID card and pay $5 plus tax at the door. See dining hall hours.
Finally, don't miss what Recreation Sports has to offer staff this month for free, including Zumba, HIIT, 50/50, body strength training and a variety of yoga classes.
Be sure to keep an eye on UNT Today to see what's happening campus-wide for Staff Appreciation Month throughout March!
Happy Staff Appreciation Month!
