New Semester Checklist - Finances

Before the beginning of each semester, students should complete the following tasks to ensure a successful start to the academic term:

View Student Account
  • Visit the “Student Account” tile in myUNT to:
    • View tuition and fee changes, anticipated aid and remaining balance due
    • Confirm refund preference through the “Refunds” menu option
    • Select the Save & Soar tuition plan through the “Student Account” menu if you are an incoming Texas resident freshman who is interested in it

Review Financial Aid/Scholarships
  • Review and accept/decline financial aid award using the “Financial Aid & Scholarships” tile in myUNT. Accepting your awards will allow you to see them in pending aid on your myUNT Term Summary.
    • For grant or scholarship aid, select "Accept" to confirm acceptance of the award
    • For federal loan aid, you have an option between "Accept" or "Decline" for the full amount and an option to reduce the amount of the loan
  • Review your myUNT "Tasks" tile to ensure that all tasks have been completed.
View/Pay Bill
  • Pay the balance in full or enroll in a payment plan for the semester using the “Student Account” tile in myUNT*
  • Access the “View and Pay Bill” menu option in the “Student Account” tile to complete the Refund Policy Acknowledgement and review Tuition Insurance Policy coverage for the semester through UNT’s partnership with GradGuard
  • Schedule an appointment with Student Money Management for budgeting and financial coaching sessions

*Note: No payment action is required if “Anticipated Aid” exceeds the balance for the semester and no balance exists from a prior semester.
