Alumna Sarah Broom ('02), who studied journalism and anthropology at UNT, won the prestigious National Book Award for nonfiction in November with The Yellow House (Grove Press/Grove Atlantic). It's a moving memoir of her family and their home in New Orleans East — and of so much more.
She began writing the notes that would become the book when she was a student at UNT, and the work includes shoutouts to West Hall and Willis Library.
