The combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science with a major in accounting is a 153-semester-hour program designed to provide an appropriate base of knowledge for entry into the accounting profession, as well as a broad-based general educational background. Students awarded the Master of Science with a major in accounting are simultaneously awarded the Bachelor of Science with a major in accounting. (The Bachelor of Science with a major in accounting is not awarded separately.)

The combined B.S./M.S. program allows you to earn two degrees simultaneously, and it meets the 150-hour requirement for the Certified Public Accountant exam in Texas and many other states. You also can earn academic credit while participating in an internship.

Combined Accounting Bachelor's & Master's Courses You Could Take

Accounting Principles I - Financial Accounting (3 hrs.):
External uses of accounting information; interpretation of accounting data; analysis of financial statements; income and cash flow analysis; nature of assets and liabilities; understanding accounting reporting process.
Data Analysis with Spreadsheets (3 hrs.):
Collection, description and analysis of numerical data. Data presentation, tables, charts and graphs, descriptive statistics, analysis of time series and index numbers, sampling techniques and distributions, estimation, confidence intervals, with applications in quality control and productivity.
Business Calculus (3 hrs.):
Differential and integral calculus with emphasis on applications to business.
Introduction to Data Mining (3 hrs.):
Knowledge discovery in large databases, using data mining tools and techniques. Topics include data exploration, modeling and model evaluation. Decision making in a case-embedded business environment is emphasized.
