UNT TAMS student wins Goldwater Scholarship, another takes honorable mention
DENTON, Texas (UNT) — Amber Lu, a student from the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science at the University of North Texas has been named a 2017 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Winner.
“It’s a really humbling experience,” said Lu. “It could have easily been any of the other nominees. Being surrounded by these peers is amazing, they are all doing such amazing research and they just make me want to do better.”

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Convenience store competition is stiffer than ever. With that, 7-Eleven is re-strategizing toward the future with help from University of North Texas marketing students.
“Millennials are the next generation of business, and college students have a different mindset on how to accomplish goals,” said Mallory Minnix-Smith, a 26-year-old MBA student in strategic management. “When you get a bunch of 20-somethings into a room together, we can come up with crazy, yet creative, ideas that may actually work.”
Texas ranch helping trauma survivors gets needed help from UNT class
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- A North Texas ranch that helps people and animals when other therapies fail is getting help itself from a group of University of North Texas marketing students.
Founder Bob Williams started Ranch Hand Rescue Counseling Center and Animal Sanctuary nine years ago as a combined rescue facility for animals and therapy center for trauma survivors who don’t respond well to traditional counseling. The organization’s mission is strong, but the group struggles in other ways.
