Lesa B. Roe, NASA's deputy chief operating officer, named UNT System Chancellor sole finalist
Roe is set to replace Lee F. Jackson, becoming the UNT System’s third Chancellor and the first-ever woman to lead UNTS. The chancellor is the chief executive officer of the UNT System and is responsible for all aspects of the System’s operations, including oversight of the three UNTS campuses — UNT in Denton, UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth and UNT Dallas — as well as the UNT System administration.

August 17, 2017 – (DALLAS) The University of North Texas System Board of Regents has selected Lesa B. Roe, Acting Deputy Administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as the sole finalist for the position of Chancellor. Ms. Roe's selection was announced August 17 during the UNT System Board of Regents meeting at the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas College of Music kicks off Jazz at the Syndicate at 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 (Tuesday). The free evening and lunchtime jazz performances will be held in the University Union Syndicate, 1155 Union Circle.
National Science Foundation grant to fund drone advances at UNT
DENTON (UNT), Texas – The National Science Foundation has awarded Shengli Fu, University of North Texas College of Engineering associate professor and chair of electrical engineering, a $250,000 grant for drone research and development. The grant is part of $1 million that has been divided between UNT, the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
Famed composer to join UNT College of Music
DENTON (UNT), Texas – He is best known for his many memorable and award-winning film scores including “Silverado,” “Tombstone,” “The Rescuers Down Under,” “Miracle on 34th Street” and “Harry and the Hendersons,” among others. “JAG,” “Tiny Toon Adventures” and “Dinosaurs” all grace his television theme repertoire. Now, Bruce Broughton, a 10-time Emmy Award winner, will be joining the University of North Texas College of Music as the 2017-18 composer-in-residence.
