Lesa B. Roe, NASA's deputy chief operating officer, named UNT System Chancellor sole finalist
Roe is set to replace Lee F. Jackson, becoming the UNT System’s third Chancellor and the first-ever woman to lead UNTS. The chancellor is the chief executive officer of the UNT System and is responsible for all aspects of the System’s operations, including oversight of the three UNTS campuses — UNT in Denton, UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth and UNT Dallas — as well as the UNT System administration.

Famed composer to join UNT College of Music
DENTON (UNT), Texas – He is best known for his many memorable and award-winning film scores including “Silverado,” “Tombstone,” “The Rescuers Down Under,” “Miracle on 34th Street” and “Harry and the Hendersons,” among others. “JAG,” “Tiny Toon Adventures” and “Dinosaurs” all grace his television theme repertoire. Now, Bruce Broughton, a 10-time Emmy Award winner, will be joining the University of North Texas College of Music as the 2017-18 composer-in-residence.
UNT College of Engineering professor wins prestigious science award
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- University of North Texas College of Engineering assistant professor Diana Berman has earned the prestigious 2017 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from the Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
UNT offers local teachers summer science institute
The University of North Texas gave three local teachers the opportunity to go back to school.
The university hosted the teachers last month during the Summer Science Institute with the aim of helping them develop lesson plans in English and Spanish.
Teens do independent research in UNT laboratories for summer jobs
DENTON (UNT), Texas — For many teens, their first summer job means taking food orders or bussing the tables in a restaurant, sacking groceries, babysitting or working as a camp counselor or lifeguard.
Mira Patel's job, however, is in the University of North Texas biology lab of Pamela Padilla, identifying a molecular mechanism involved with how diet and genotype influence stress responses. The research will provide more information about the consequences of gestational diabetes.
