Don and Donna Millican pledge $1.5 million to establish new accounting chair at UNT
A $1.5 million commitment from University of North Texas alumnus Don Millican and his wife Donna Millican has established the Don and Donna Millican Endowed Chair in Accounting at the UNT College of Business. Don Millican, chief financial officer at Kaiser-Francis Oil Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a 1974 graduate of UNT, and the endowed chair supports his vision of preparing UNT students to compete at the highest levels in the accounting field.
UNT researchers collaborate on cancer breakthrough
A team of researchers working in two countries and several universities, including the University of North Texas, has made a major discovery that could help fight some deadly forms of cancer.
In 2013, the team announced that it had connected a single protein that contain an iron-sulfur center, to some of the most lethal types of breast cancers. Since then, that protein has been connected to at least four other types of cancer. Now the researchers say their lab results show they've found a way to suppress that protein and in turn stop tumor growth.
UNT hospitality program ranked No. 31 worldwide
DENTON, Texas (UNT) -- CEOWORLD Magazine has named the University of North Texas hospitality program among the best in the world. In its "Top 50 Hospitality and Hotel Management Schools" list for 2015, the UNT's Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management was ranked No. 31 out of 300 private and public hotel management schools. Approximately 18,000 hospitality professionals were surveyed for the listing.
